From the Agency for Italy Digitale this is the document that should
dictate the rules in favor of FOSS in government.
So now they will have no longer excuses and
they will have to use and reuse software
open source. The alternative must be justified (from: http://punto-informatico.it/3973355/PI/News/pa-perche-scegliere-software-foss.aspx in italian)

" On an HP ProLiant server , When upgrading the HP Dynamic Smart Array RAID Controller Driver for Linux ( hpvsa ) using the hpvsa 1.2.6 -11a rpm , a message is displayed Indicating That the driver version is already installed or a message is displayed erroneously Indicating That them to more recent version is already installed .
This Occurs Because The rpm command does not Recognize the "a" in the- eleventh part of the version number ."

What are you saying ? Really ?
In 2013 a company like HP that does not know well the rpm comparison algorithm. Nice to know.

Probably it is time to do a man page for this https://blueprints.launchpad.net/rpm/+spec/rpm-add-rpm-version-man-page
A good reference http://www.sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=333 about what is true problem and what is is not. For the glibc maintainer, anyway
26th-Dec-2012 04:00 pm - What does it mean to be young?
"Being young means keeping open the door of hope, even when the sea is bad and the sky is tired of being blue."

A nice quote, isn't it ? It has the flavor of hope

And at Christmas, hope is the most important thing.
Bruce Schneier had written recently on cryptogram a delicious post about as to became a Security Expert ( http://www.schneier.com/crypto-gram-1207.html#1 . )

It says nothing really new, but it is well written and sums up precisely what are the possible ways forward for those wishing to undertake a professional career in the computer security field. I recommend it highly, because it responds to one of the most common questions i see on the security  mailing lists and  forum.
11th-Jan-2012 04:33 pm - RPM5 revamp !!!!!!!!!

14th-Dec-2011 12:01 pm - Where is the "old" rpm.org site ?
After the alleged "fork" of  @rpm5 from @rpm the contents of the previous site apparently is no longer online.

Also this page refers to "web archive"
(http://www.rpm.org/). But it is not entirely correct. The old site live here: http://oldrpm.org. Certainly this is the past . And the future? Well noone can be sure of the future,  but I invite to looking for who have registered the  rpm6.org and rpm7.org dns domain..............
Everyone can easily remember a particular day if it coincides with an important event.
I do not know really how important it is to obtain a RHCA (RedHat Certified Architect) in Italy, you know, but the 11 / 11 / 11 I did the exam EX442 with success. And with that I got the RHCA certification.

HeHe, not bad at all for an old dog
For who don't know o care,  It  is available to the public a recent article titled "who mantain rpm (2011 edition )" published on lwn.net. The article unfortunately has sparked the usual flame, that  I personally do not understand (http://lwn.net/Articles/441085/). This is my replay
http://lwn.net/Articles/441282/ perhaps more informative that the original article.
